VISIT THE CENTER
Come to JCBA to experience books like you've never seen before. We welcome community groups, classes from Florida Atlantic and other universities and colleges, groups of friends and family, professional groups, and classes from high schools and middle schools and elementary schools. Schedule an hour with us and we'll open your eyes to a whole new way of thinking, where the ubiquitous becomes astounding. Groups of 8 to 24 are ideal, but we can bend the rules a bit in either direction. Contact us for more details or to schedule.

The Miura Ori folded-vase construction is simply joyful for those who love working with paper. Participants will be introduced to basic paper pleating concepts, then apply this knowledge to create a beautiful three-dimensional vessel that can be purely artful or elegantly practical. A basic PDF template, which can be endlessly altered to create vases of varying height and circumference, will be emailed to each participant. Additionally, paper decorating techniques and appropriate papers choices will be discussed. All participants will be sent some papers to try out during our session (so we will need your mailing address as well as your email address).
REAL MAIL FRIDAYS
Friday
2 to 5 PM Eastern
From Wherever You Are, via Zoom
Our Real Mail Fridays social this week falls on the observation of Good Friday, which feels a strange day for a social, to be sure. We'll be taking a more subdued approach to our Real Mail Fridays soundtrack this week, and we'll devote the final hour of our gathering to a most sublime recording called "Lamentations: Holy Week in Provence." It's by the Boston Camerata, an early music ensemble you may be familiar with: Joel Cohen & Anne Azema of the Boston Camerata have performed several programs over the years at the Jaffe Book Arts Gallery and at FAU's University Theater, by our invitation. "Lamentations" is a most beautiful piece of music, and we will play it uninterrupted from 4:00 Eastern to the close of our online social.
We do bill Real Mail Fridays as a letter writing social, but the folks who join us each week from around the globe do all kinds of interesting things during our time together. We'll begin as we always do, at 2:00 Eastern. Come and go as you please but do consider joining us for "Lamentations" beginning at 4:00 Eastern. No matter your faith tradition or your beliefs, it is a most special way to mark the day.
